Accountability Mechanism in Central Asia and Caucasus
BISHKEK, 3 Sep 10 -- The OSPF recently declared the case of the Education Sector Reform Project in Tajikistan eligible. Out of the five complaints in Central Asia and the Caucasus, two were deemed eligible under the Accountability Mechanism. This article talks about concerns on the AM in the region.

RP Senate asked to dig deeper into climate finance
MANILA, 27 Aug 10 -- Civil society organizations criticized IFIs' agressive lobbying to control climate finance. "The World Bank has no business peddling itself as a conduit for climate finance for the Philippines and the rest of the world," Milo Tanchuling of FDC said.

Unsettling Resettlement in Nam Theun II
NAKAI, 30 Jul 10 -- The ADB and the World Bank claimed majority of the villagers relocated due to the Nam Theun II project in Laos are now much better off. However, the issue of sustainable livelihood opportunities remains lingering for the 6,200 resettled villagers.

Affected people clueless about ADB project
BEKASI, 29 Jul 10 -- While the ADB's Communication Policy is undergoing a review, affected people claimed that they were left in the dark about the bank's Citarum project. “Communities who are affected by the ADB project didn’t know anything about it until they got evicted,” Diana Gultom from Debtwatch said.

Indonesian NGOs express protest against PCP consultation
JAKARTA, 28 Jul 10 -- Indonesian NGOs today sent a letter to ADB president Haruhiko Kuroda expressing their protest on the manner the Indonesia Resident Mission managed the consultations in the capital city and Banda Aceh.

ASTANA/BISHKEK, 20 Jul 10 -- Local communities are crying foul over the implementation of the ADB-funded "Western China-Western Europe" road project. Issues surrounding the project include unfair compensation, violation of people's social rights and ADB's policies, and corruption.
